The Church believe that humans wishing to make a socio-economic committment to each other are encouraged to do so. Staging some form of ceremonial agreement to such a contract is a pleasant way to publish this committment to the community, while providing ample reason for a party.
The CHI makes no distinction between male, female or otherwise. Anyone can marry anyone, and in any number. While some civil authorities may disagree, the Church, in it's Infinite Improbability, pre-empts these authorities by virtue of the sheer scope of authority (i.e. Infinity).
Chians who practice marriage outside the normal bounds of their community are encouraged to not brag about the number of wives/husbands they have, as this can lead to Bad Times.
The CHI does not condone marriage between a human and a non-human, including sheep, remote controls and plant life. While these liaisons may be fruitful and Good Times, the contract of marriage is reserved for humans. This does not necessarily mean you can't have fun with your sheep, remote control or plant life, you just can't marry them.
None of this, of course, precludes fulfilling relationships outside the contract of marriage, and the Church encourages all to experiment as necessary. Marriage is a social contract loosely governed by the laws of your community, so act accordingly. |
